Beanie Boos and their Benefits

Beanie Boos Music Video
We can think of hundreds of reasons for you to have Beanie Boos, but did you know there are health benefits to toys as well? Even if you don't need another reason to add to your Beanie Boos collection, these benefits will at least give you a solid excuse!

Behavior Boost
Did you know that recess has actually been shown to help improve a child's behavior? A 2009 study showed that classroom behavior improved after the children had a chance to play and get rid of some of that extra energy. Outdoor play is especially important in this case, since staying indoors will limit the child’s mobility. So, bring the Beanie Boos outside and let your kids create their own epic Beanie Boos adventure!

Teamwork
While this may not always be a pretty process it is an important and a necessary one. Group play puts children in a place to develop both empathy and teamwork. When their actions have an impact on another child it shows them the effect of their actions and helps them to learn how to moderate their own behavior and emotions. Additionally, at a young age the potential negative impact is significantly minimized, but without that kind of interaction the child may grow up in with a "me-centric" perspective which will hurt their ability to interact later in life.

In addition to helping the children develop empathy, there is also a direct impact on their ability to work well with others. Team sports, or games played collectively teach children to cooperate and that more can be accomplished as a group than alone. Failing to learn that early enough in life can lead to difficulty in relationships and work later on.

Exercise
It's recommended for children 2 and up to get at least one hour of fun exercise each day. Obviously, that doesn't mean hauling the little ones off to the gym with you, but it does mean that they need to move. While there are immediate benefits of not having to deal with loads of pent up energy being released at dinner time, there are long term perks as well. It's been seen that active children remain active as they grow up. This has long term health benefits as it is well shown that an active lifestyle reduces the risk for heart disease. So take your Beanie Boos on a walk, and let the adventure develop!

Educational Advantage
Studies have shown that children who pass physical tests are more likely to perform better on classroom tests as well. In some cases, this could be directly caused by adding and educational element to playtime. That could be achieved by an active game that requires counting or developing memory skills. Even if there is no additional educational element to their playtime, successfully achieving physical tests will boost the child's self-esteem.

Fun is Important Too!
This is where Beanie Boos really shine! Play is a normal part of childhood; this has been studied in animals too! All work really does make for boring results, it's important that children aren't overwhelmed with tasks and that play is prioritized. Developing an imagination has real benefits as well. Being able to think creatively is fun for your Beanie Boos tea party, but that same creative imagination comes in handy for problem-solving later in life too!

Recess is On!
We all want to do what is best for our kids and it's important to remember that play is essential. Whether it is creative playtime with Beanie Boos or some much needed outdoor exercise, make sure your children have enough time for play in their lives. In the short term this benefits their mood and demeanor, and in the long run, they will be better-equipped adults, who are also full of fond childhood memories!

A Beanie Boo Bedtime

beanie boos music video
This is a story about Beanie Boos. Much like me and you, Beanie Boos need sleep too. At night you brush your teeth and put on your bedtime wear, but what do Beanie Boos do to prepare? Some Beanie Boos rest in the forest and trees, and some Beanie Boos rest in beds like you and me. Kiki the kitty is said to be the friendliest Beanie Boo of all, but Kiki needs her blankie before asleep she can fall. After searching and searching with no blankie to be found, let's follow this little Beanie Boo as she asks around...

The sun has settled, the moon is high. The stars are out, and light the sky.

Kiki is tired, from climbing, jumping, and chasing mice all day.

As she turns to her bed, ready to dream, she sees that her blankie is nowhere to be seen.

She checks to the right and checks to the left, with no blankie in sight there's no chance for rest.

She checks on the table, and checks by the doors, she looks by the closet, the cabinet, and all over the floors.

After searching and searching, "It must be my eyes" Kiki says to herself. "I'll ask all my friends, maybe they can help"

Kiki walks to the living room, and up by the couch, is Sami the goldfish, "Maybe he can help out!"

"Sami" whispers Kiki, "are you asleep yet?" Sami flutters his eyes, turns to Kiki and softly replies "I was just arranging my pebbles, and getting ready for bed. How come you, are not asleep yet?"

"I can't find my blankie" Kiki says as she sighs. "I've searched low, I've searched high, but it's nowhere to be found..." Kiki pauses to paw at her nose and closes her eyes "I'm just so sleepy, and I've looked all around."

"Sami, have you seen my blankie?" Kiki asks with wide eyes.

"No, Kiki I'm sorry but no blankies I've seen, but I did see Pippie the puppy running to and from, If his eyes haven't seen it, maybe his nose will know?"

"Thank you Sami" Kiki says as she turns to go, "Good luck finding your blankie" Sami replies as he settles down in his bowl.

Kiki heads to the dog house outside the back door, "If Pippie hasn't seen it, he's smelt it for sure!"

"Pippie" Kiki purrs in front of his home. "I can't find my blankie, and I'm hoping you know."

"Kiki!?" Pippie barks as he jumps out of bed wagging his tail. "Are you here to play?" he asks, now pouncing around.

"No Pippie, it's bed time" Kiki meows "and I can't find my blankie, I've looked all around, and I was hoping you'd know"

"Your blankie?" Pippie replies with a bound. "I saw a man on a bicycle, a duck, and a cow...a pigeon, a rooster, and even an owl. I ate food off the table and took a nap on the couch, played with my owner and barked at some sounds, but...I didn't see your blankie in all that I found "

"An Owl?" Kiki asks with a flip of her tail. "I've heard they have the best eyes, even at night they don't fail."

"It was Sammy" yips Pippie, "Sammy the owl, he was up in his tree by the front of the house. If Sammy has seen it I'm sure he will help, he helped find my ball, my bone, and even my tail."

"Thank you Pippie" says Kiki "I'm sorry I woke you, I hope you can calm down" but Pippie was already sleeping and wagging away, dreaming of all the running and playing he'd done that day.

In front of the house up in an old oak tree, sat Sammy the owl, as still as could be.

"Sammy" said Kiki, "Sammy are you asleep?"

"The night is my daytime, I'm nocturnal you see, while the rest of the world is sleeping I'm minding my needs" Sammy replied and fluttered his wings.

"Sammy it's my bedtime and I'm trying to sleep, but I can't find my blankie and I need it to dream. I was hoping you'd seen it with your perch and your eyes, I've been told they're the best and that owls are quite wise."

"In fact you're correct, on both those accounts. Our vision is flawless, and our mind's paramount." Sammy said, with a puff in his chest. "So your blankie is missing and you need it for rest?"

"Yes Sammy, have you seen it?" Kiki asked with a pounce.

"I do recall seeing a blanket, it was inside the house, it was moving around in the grasp of a mouse" hooted Sammy in a thoughtful gaze.

"A mouse?" Kiki asked with a tilt of her head "it must have been Squeaker heading off to his bed."

"I don't know his name, but I remember his face. His nose was pointy, and his ears were quite round. He had the longest whiskers and cheese crumbs on his snout." Sammy replied with a hoot and a scowl.

"Thank you Sammy" Kiki purred in reply. "I'm off to find the mouse" and she headed inside.

Kiki went to the wall in the kitchen, with the hole by the floor. A trail of crumbs led her way to the tiny mouse door.

"Squeaker" cried Kiki, "are you in your house? I'm looking for my blankie and Sammy said ask the mouse."

"Oh, hi Kiki" Squeaker said as he poked out his nose. "I do have your blankie, I should've told you so. My babies were sleeping and shivering from cold, I tried what I could, but there's a draft in our home. So I went on a hunt and your blankie I found. I'm sorry I took it, I'll go get it now."

"Squeaker" said Kiki, "but your babies are warm? If I take back my blankie what will they do?"

They paused for a moment, to consider their cause. "I've got it" cried Kiki and she sprung to her paws. "My bed is the softest and warmest around, you and your babies can come share my house. I'm sure that my blankie is big enough too, staying together is the best thing to do!"

"You mean it?" asked Squeaker with hope in his eyes. "Of course! We're all family" Kiki kindly replied.

So Kiki the kitten and Squeaker the mouse, took the blankie and all the mice babies over to Kiki's house. And there curled up on Kiki's warm bed they all found quick rest and dreams filled their heads. Kiki purred as she slept, her blankie now found, but even better yet she had friends all around.

Goodnight to all the Beanie Boos, and from us and the Beanie Boos goodnight to you too!

Did you know this about Beanie Boos?

Beanie Boos
The first Seven Beanie Boos first appeared in the United Kingdom in June 2009.  These first Seven Beanie Boo’s were named Bamboo, Bubblegum, Coconut, Kiwi, Peanut, Slush, and Waddles.  Slightly modified versions of six of the Seven Beanie Boos were released in the United Kingdom and in the United States later on in 2009.

In March 2010, TY introduced two new sizes of Beanie Boos.  The first size was the Medium size of Beanie Boo. This Medium sized Beanie Boo looks like the Bamboo Beanie Boo.  The other new size of Beanie Boo is the Key Chain.  The Key Chain sized Beanie Boo is the smallest kind of Beanie Boo that there is.

In January of 2012, TY introduced another size of Beanie Boo.  This Size of Beanie Boo was called the Large Beanie Boo.  If you look above at the picture you can see the Large Beanie Boo.  The first, 4 Large Beanie Boos that were sold in stores were Coconut, Cookie, Safari, and Waddles.

In August 2009, the second release of Beanie Boos arrived in the United Kingdom.  The original Beanie Boo, Bubblegum the Koala Bear, was renamed, Kooky.  New Beanie Boo were also added to the collection.  There was a Lemur named Bubblegum. The other new Beanie Boo was a Bush Baby named Cleo.  But then Peanut the Elephant had disappeared completely.  The second release of Beanie Boos to the United Kingdom also had many color, size, and texture changes from the first releases.

But Bubblegum the Lemur and Cleo the Bush Baby didn’t stay for long.  TY, Inc. had removed them from the United States market.  This is because of a copyright infringement.  This lawsuit was filed by Aurora World, Inc.

Later on, Peanut the Elephant Beanie Boo had finally returned!  But a lot had changed from when the other Peanut had still been released.  The new release of Peanut was all gray with blue eyes and inside her ears was also blue. In 2011 at the Annual Learning Express convention in Jacksonville, Florida, the TY Company received the Best Toy Award for 2011!

In March 2012, the TY Company shipped a new style of Beanie Boo.  This kind of Beanie Boo has sparkly eyes.  The two first new style Beanie Boos were named Sapphire and Treasure.  They were sold in Justice Stores in select locations.  They became Justice Exclusives.  By the end of December in 2012, Sapphire and Treasure had been joined by many more Justice Store exclusive Beanie Boos. On October 17, 2013, news broke of two unannounced Claire’s exclusive Beanie Boos.  They are named Bubbly and Zazzy.
